ART-17 (2016/17 Season)
While in previous seasons the team was focused on new designs and improving the car, it was decided that, in order to avoid the technical issues the ART-16 suffered, the ART-17 would be aimed towards reliability, which is why the planning for the whole season was modified. There would be much more testing, and also a bigger part of the year's budget was saved for spare parts and replacements.
For the first time ever, ARUS was able to qualify for Formula Student Austria, one of the most prestigious competitions in Europe, being also the only Spanish team to do so. Apart from the experience at a new circuit, the highlights from that week at the Red Bull Ring were the first Top 10 in the Business event and finishing the Endurance for the first time since 2014.
Once again, FSG was the next stop for ARUS. Testing between both competitions allowed the ART-17 to have a much better performance in Germany, achieving pretty decent results in the dynamic events. Unfortunately, due to a defective electrical contact the Endurance could not be completed, and a historical chance to finish in the Top 10 amongst the best teams from all over the world vanished.
As it was planned, the ART-17 kept the main specifications of its predecessors, since the feedback received from the Design judges had been mainly positive. That helped achieving a much higher reliability, which turned into great results on the track.
